단군 (Dangun) is the grandson of the supreme deity 환인 (Hwanin), and son of the deity 환웅 (Hwanung). He is a demigod (his mother was human, sort of - see 웅녀). He is the "first" Korean and founder of the first kingdom on the Korean Peninsula: 고조선 (Gojoseon).
