Welcome to TOPIK Tutoring
Course Description
The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) is the standardized Korean language test that is run by the National Institute for International Education. There are a couple of other similar profiency tests, however; namely the Korean Language Ability Test (KLAT) which is operated by the Korea Educational Testing Service (authorized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) or the Korean Social Integration Program Test (KIIP) which is run by the Ministry of Justice. The KIIP is meant for immigrants in Korea and used for naturalization requirements, whereas the KLAT is a lesser known comprehensive Korean language assessment. Nevertheless, the TOPIK exam is the most well known test of Korean language profiency and is the standard test of profiency accepted by universties, businesses, and even the Korean government as evidence of Korean language ability. Thus, many Korean language learners have the goal of passing the TOPIK test for university acceptance or simply the end goal of a particular course of studies. As a standardized proficiency test, TOPIK is not so much about learning Korean for communcation, rather it is a test that people need to document their skills. There are many people in the world who can communciate excellently in Korean but who would not pass this exam without proper preparation since it is not exaclty measuring real world language usage. Nevertheless, we here at Survival Korean can help you prepare for taking the test and understanding the concepts that are integrated throughout the test questions, as well as the necessary test-taking and question prep skills for understanding this very iconic standarized test in Korea.
