  Introduction

  We are so glad that you have enrolled in Foundational Korean: People, History, and Culture! We hope that over the next four weeks you not only enjoy learning new about the Korean Peninsula in prehistory, but also the lineage of modern day Korea from this remote, mysterious past. Each module will provide an overview of archeological remains, written records, and the myths and legends that have been transmitted over time, and which make up the story that we know as Korea. The goal is to provide you comprehensive (but not overwhelming) view of the people, history, and culture so that the Korean language is better contextualized. Among the many that did, three would stand out in numerous significant ways: Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla. They are referred to as the Three Kingdoms and their socio cultural legacy is still felt to this day.
